Job Overview

The Clinical Programme Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the provision of effective training and research within the hospital. This role ensures that nursing staff and learners receive the necessary guidance, induction, and development to maintain high standards of patient care. The coordinator will manage the Clinical Education Training Unit (CETU), oversee staff development programs, and support continuous professional development (CPD) initiatives.

Requirements

Candidates must meet the following criteria to be considered:

  • Basic Nursing Qualification accredited with the SANC (Government Notice R425/R683) – Diploma or Degree in Nursing
  • Post-basic Nursing Qualification in Nursing Education or Health Services Management, registered with SANC
  • Current registration with the South African Nursing Council
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in Nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with SANC in General Nursing
  • Proven experience in Nursing Education and functional in Clinical Education Training Units
  • Knowledge of Office of the Health Standards Compliance and Nursing Strategy
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in presentations
  • Ability to interact with diverse stakeholders, conduct report writing, conflict management, and counselling

Key Duties

The Clinical Programme Coordinator will be responsible for:

  • Coordinating the provision of effective training and research programs
  • Maintaining professional growth, ethical standards, and self-development
  • Planning and implementing staff development programs for nurses and learners
  • Conducting skills audits and managing induction programs for newly appointed personnel
  • Establishing and maintaining Clinical Education Training Units (CETU)
  • Formulating guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for unit functioning
  • Participating in multidisciplinary committees within the hospital
  • Monitoring quality patient care continuously
  • Coordinating study leave applications and placement of Community Service Nurses
  • Liaising with GCON, private NEIs, and universities
  • Serving as Secretariat for CPD implementation in the institution
  • Performing all other duties delegated by the Supervisor or Manager

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with legal frameworks for education and training
  • Develop networks of professional relations to enhance service delivery
  • Demonstrate computer literacy to support training and administration
  • Monitor and maintain policies, professional standards, and patient care excellence
